TJM Restaurant Management Offers the Right Ingredients for Successful CMN Fundraising
01/09/2009
At TJM Restaurant Management Corporation, community service and philanthropy are simply ingredients in the recipe for every day life.
And now, thanks to the Corporation’s more than 450 employees, who live by the company-wide philosophy of “Make it better every day,” Children’s Miracle Network (CMN) and Our Lady of the Lake’s Children’s Hospital are making the lives of children in the Baton Rouge area better every day.
Through an innovative program developed by the employees of T.J. Ribs, Ninfa’s, Ruffino’s and Ruth’s Chris’ Steak House, appropriately dubbed the “Round It Up Campaign”, the Corporation has raised more than $155,000 for the Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Hospital in just five years. The concept is simple enough. Throughout the month of May, TJM Restaurant Management patrons are encouraged to “round up” their bill to the nearest dollar. All of the proceeds go directly to CMN at Our Lady of the Lake’s Children’s Hospital.
To make things more interesting during the campaign, the restaurants within TJM Restaurant Corporation compete with one another to “Round Up” the most money for CMN. The winning restaurant receives bragging rights for an entire year.
The program has been so successful that the CMN National Office in Salt Lake City, Utah has begun using the “Round It Up" Campaign in other markets around the country. This design is in keeping with the TJMRM corporate belief that charitable assistance should provide direct support or services with minimum overhead so that all of the funds raised go to the charitable organization.
In this case, 100 percent of the funds raised by TJM Restaurant Management have gone directly to Our Lady of the Lake’s Children’s Hospital. And those funds have made a significant impact on the Baton Rouge community by helping to care for the nearly 70,000 local children who visit the hospital each year through the purchase of life-saving equipment, the provision of community education aimed at keeping kids healthy and the provision of treatment for children who could not otherwise afford it.
TJM Restaurant Management Chairman TJ Moran’s philosophy on corporate philanthropy is simple... “Reaching out to aid our fellow citizens needing assistance should not be self-serving, but rather an act of demonstration to others. Responding to the needs and hopes of all people and acting urgently, systematically and consistently to aid that need, however we can, emphasizes our company mission.”
